Miss Emily Boulton Smith, III Dan and APA Titled Sports Physiotherapist created and designed the programme “Taekwon-Do Tots”.
Recognising that Taekwon-Do is a great way to develop our younger children, both physically and mentally, Miss Boulton Smith developed the idea in consultation with Senior Master Andrew K H Rhee, VIII Dan, ITFA & ViRTUAL Taekwon-Do Founder/Chief Instructor and several other practitioners including paediatric physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists and early childhood teachers.
With a background in coaching and a Bachelor of Science in PE, Sports Science and Recreation Management from Loughborough University, the UK’s leading Sports Educational Institution, Miss Boulton Smith has worked extensively in this area for many years. After graduating with a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy from La Trobe University in Melbourne and successfully promoting to III Dan in 2014, she was awarded her ITFA Taekwon-Do National ‘A’ Class Instructor Certificate and her professional title ‘APA Sports Physiotherapist’ from the Australian Physiotherapy Association. Miss Boulton Smith recently became a new mum in May 2016, giving birth to her first son, Marcus.
With a passion for teaching, Miss Boulton Smith decided to focus on 3-5 year olds after several parents and friends reported a need for a high quality programme for this age group. It became apparent that many current programmes available in the community lack structure, knowledge and technical ability.
‘Taekwon-Do Tots’ focuses on learning the foundations of the Art in a fun, yet disciplined environment, prompting the tenets: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance and Indomitable Spirit. The syllabus flows seamlessly into the ITFA children’s programme that starts at age 6.
Miss Boulton Smith holds a current NSW Working with Children Check and a Senior First Aid Certificate.
